What I Write
About Me
My author resume is similar to a mullet hairstyle. Business at the front and party at the back. Professionally, I craft personalised words to suit the customer brief. I have a background in comprehensive nursing and a wide range of knowledge, including health science, environmental issues, politics and pop culture.
The party side is my love of pulp horror fiction. I read Night of the Crabs by Guy N. Smith far too young, and watched Jaws, which rendered me unable to wash because all bodies of water were unsafe, including the bathtub. Stephen King became my life blood, and that weird love of being terrified by stories seems to have stuck.
I live in Tūranga-nui-a-kiwa/Gisborne, Aotearoa/New Zealand with my husband, who is an IT professional by day and a guitar rock star the occasional night. I am his groupie, in a middle-aged manner. We have a dog who is terrified of cats, which is unfortunate because we have a cat who is terrified of humans, which is also unfortunate because we live in his house. I have a son who lives overseas. I love animals, art, gardening, movies and music.
